Environmental Health and Asthma Subcommittee (EHAS)

Environmental Health and Asthma Subcommittee (EHAS)

The Environmental Health and Asthma Subcommittee, or EHAS, is a working group of SHAB that is interested in issues relating to children's exposure to toxins including air quality and water quality.
EHAS was responsible for putting together the APS handwashing policy
EHAS current areas of focus include:
  • indoor air quality
  • the connection between asthma & absenteeism
  • vehicle idling
  • turf fields
ALL CHILDREN DESERVE A NON-TOXIC LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

The Environmental Health & Asthma Subcommittee of the APS School Health Advisory Board worked with the Advisory Council on School Facilities and Capital Programs in 2021-2022 toward recommendations for air quality, including air purifiers.

 Air Quality Mini-Grants

Congratulations to all the schools who won mini-grants and did clean air projects! Read a recap of four school clean air projects!
 
These grants were made available thanks to funding from the Virginia Chesapeake Bay Restoration Fund and the support/organization of EcoAction Arlington.

Submissions are now closed. Most of the projects have been completed. Information about the program as it was offered can be found  at bit.ly/AirQualityMiniGrants
